For a long time now, I’ve been writing music during doctor visits and hospital stays. It helps me stay mentally engaged while dealing with health issues. Some people read or journal—I write music. It’s just a way to keep the creative side of my brain working when everything else slows down.
Over the years, I’ve written more than a hundred pieces. Many of them reflect the experience of being in medical spaces—some serious, some lighthearted. A lot of the titles come from things I’ve overheard or looked up later. I’ll catch a nurse mentioning a strange term. I’ll spot something on a chart. That’ll send me down a rabbit hole of medical terminology. Sometimes the titles end up being pretty funny because of it.
“Music from the Doctor’s Office” is a collection built from those moments. Each track captures something real from those waiting rooms, conversations, and in-between times. It’s not meant to be emotional or dramatic. It is just a reflection of how I pass the time. I keep creating, even in unexpected places.
