One of my favorite hobbies is writing music, and it all started way back when my dad bought me a Casio SK-1 keyboard and a Fostex X-26 MultiTracker Cassette Recorder. I think I spent thousands of hours writing songs on that little device. It sure did relax me and bring out my creative juices.I love escaping into music and continue to write even today. I can spend hours just going through a couple of lines of music, revisiting them over and over without ever getting bored. It fascinates me how many different sounds we can pick nowadays, unlike the limited sounds from my old Casio keyboard. The advancements in keyboards and computer devices are truly unbelievable.I don’t think I’ll ever lose my joy of writing music. The best part about it is that I write primarily for myself. The music I compose is like a personal journal. I can jot down tunes on my mobile or laptop, whether at home or in a doctor’s office.Much like someone who writes in a journal every day, expressing their feelings and documenting their life, I do the same with my music. “REMEMBER TO RECORD” — As you can see from the little sticker on the soundboard, being an audio/video engineer can be challenging, especially if you forget to hit record. It’s every A/V technician's nightmare! Nowadays, I have over five redundancies just in case the file doesn’t record to an SD card or an internal hard drive. You definitely do not want to miss recording and have to tell the lecturer or your pastor that you forgot to hit record or that the file is corrupted.Imagine the panic of realizing you missed capturing an important speech or sermon. It’s happened to the best of us, making you think twice about double-checking everything. That’s why I always make sure to have multiple backups running.Audio/Video engineering is an art and a science, and it comes with its own set of challenges and rewards. I love my kids, and spending time with Rachel is always a blast. She is so fun and incredibly photogenic—she doesn’t have to do much in front of the camera because she’s naturally beautiful.I’ve always enjoyed my kids when they were younger, but there’s something truly special about our relationship now that they are adults. Our conversations are richer, and our love for each other grows. Having children who love and enjoy spending time with you is a blessing.I thank the Lord daily for giving me the incredible blessing of being a father to four wonderful children. Each one of them brings so much joy and love into my life. All the way from editing tape in college to using waveform editors today! I can remember the days when we would splice reel-to-reel tape. It was such an intriguing process to take that razor blade and precisely find the right edit. It could be tedious, but once it was done, it felt like a major accomplishment. You definitely didn’t want to make very many mistakes!Did you know that the practice of tape splicing dates back to the 1940s? Magnetic tape recording was a groundbreaking technology at the time, revolutionizing the way audio was captured and edited. Editors had to be meticulous, manually cutting and joining sections of tape to create seamless recordings. It was an art form in itself.Then the digital waveform editor came out, and I think it’s just so amazing to be able to see that waveform and almost identify each word from each part of the wave. Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine cutting and splicing tape, but I do that digitally with Adobe Audition every day, and I do it with a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for how far we’ve come.#AudioEditing #DigitalEditing #WaveformEditor #SoundDesign #AdobeAudition #Nostalgia #TechThrowback #AudioHistory #CreativeProcess #willmoneymaker

I’ve been dealing with Crohn’s disease since m

I’ve been dealing with Crohn’s disease since my sophomore year in college. At first, nobody knew what was going on. Doctors asked if I’d traveled out of the country or if I might have picked up a virus. They even considered colon cancer. The true test for Crohn’s disease is a colonoscopy, and that’s what finally gave me my diagnosis.From there, it’s been an up-and-down battle for years. I’ve tried different medications, some of which had severe side effects, like one that even gave me cancer. By the grace of God, that cancer is gone now. This disease really drains your energy. My wife has been incredibly patient, dealing with my mood swings and long bouts of melancholy (a nice word for depression). And let’s not forget all the bathroom stops when we’re out and about—I believe I can tell you the nearest bathroom within a quarter of a mile from me!Crohn’s disease doesn’t just affect the colon and digestive system; it can impact various parts of your body. It’s a very strange disease and always keeps you on your toes, dealing with new health issues each time. It can be quite scary.Throughout these 37 years, this incurable disease has affected both my mind and body, making it difficult to communicate, socialize, and get things done in a timely manner. But I’ve learned to adapt.Two years ago, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer, which prompted me to become more active. My next cancer screening is in January 2024. I truly believe that having the correct diet has helped me all these years. Staying out of stressful situations (easier said than done!) and exercising daily have also helped keep me in remission and my mind focused on other things.Recently, I had the privilege of speaking to someone who has the same level of issues with Crohn’s as I do. We related to each other on so many levels, talking about losing friends because of the disease, missing out on opportunities, and the constant struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy. It was comforting and enlightening to share experiences and know I’m not alone in this journey.Living with Crohn’s is a constant challenge, but I’m continuing to find ways to manage it. #crohns #colitis #crohndisease
